TPS #3 How I generated 100 sales in 1 week on Gumroad.
They were free, but the leverage is the catch.

Welcome, Solopreneurs.
Today, we are going to be talking about how I hit 100 sales on Gumroad in my first week on the platform. And how you can do the same.
I wrote a Twitter thread about it earlier, but we're gonna do a full deep dive so you can get the most value out of this issue.
Currently, as of writing this, I have 191 sales, but the concept is still the same.
First things first, you gotta have a product to sell.
In my case, I made a free Notion template. But it can be anything from a course, eBook, Excel sheet, etc.
(I made the template free to start getting customers and followers that I can later advertise to with premium products)
Start with solving problems in your own life. If you can create a solution for a problem you face every day: Boom, that's valuable.
I didn't say that would be easy, but you have to start somewhere. I suggest mind-mapping and journaling to connect the most dots.
Before you list your product anywhere, you gotta have a good-looking copy of your product.
I didn't really know what did well for Notion templates, so I went to Gumroad to look for examples.
Picasso said it best: "Good artist borrow, great artist steals!"
I went on Canva.com to design the ad (highly recommend, super intuitive and quick)
Voila, I had an Ad.
Now that you have your digital product & a clean-looking ad copy, It's time to promote it.
If you're anything like me, you don't have the biggest social media following. So you gotta look elsewhere.
( I had around 50 followers on Twitter at the time.)
A friend of mine on Twitter (@savuuemanuel) told me he generated sales from Facebook groups and subreddits, so I ran with it.
I went to two groups at first, Free Notion Templates & No Cost Notion Templates and Tools, because I at least knew that Notion users might want to use my product.
I eventually went to groups that were a little more niche, like entrepreneur groups and subreddits.
Quick Tip:
If you post to Reddit, the trick is to make it seem like you're not trying to promote anything. Just tell a story; people resonate much better like that on that platform.
After the first day, I had 13 sales, which was mind-blowing to me (and still is).
Then, I simply repeated posting it to relevant groups for about a half hour in the morning each day.
In the post, you can either have people comment if they want the template, which pumps the algorithm, or you can just simply post the link.
After 1 week, I generated over 100 sales.
Before we conclude today, I want to take a minute to talk about why I made my first products free.
For one, if they download the template, I have links to both my Twitter account and my newsletter.
If they decide they like my work, they'll probably follow me or subscribe, which is infinitely more valuable than a one-time sale.
Someone who follows you or subscribes is a customer for life.
That is my current strategy for the rest of 2022. Give away as many value-packed templates as possible, and then charge people for a premium product after trust has been established later down the line.
That's all for today's issue. Thank you for reading, and I'll see all of you next week!
I just released my second free product!
This template is filled with software and tech that I use to run my business and how I would run other online businesses.
