TPS #15 How I Create Content in Only 3 Hours.
Read Time: 4 Mins
Welcome Back, Solopreneurs.
Hunter, here. Thanks for joining me. Have you ever spent what seems like millions of years trying to write content every day?
I know that I was when I was first trying to grow. I mean, if you're fully branded and looking to grow your audience. Then I know you're writing 2-4 tweets a day, 2 threads, and 1 newsletter issue every week.
That's great, but not efficient.
Look at it like this:
Person A spends 1.5 hours per day writing content for that day and newsletter for the week. Person B spends 3 hours once per week writing all of their content and scheduling it in advance. Person A: 1.5 x7 = 10.5 hours per week. Person B: 3 hours per week.
The difference of 7 hours of deep work per week can be life-changing. (& was for me)I'm gonna show you how to do it.
There are 5 concepts you need to understand & master in order for this to work.
1. The Art of the Plan
Have you ever heard of how the best morning routines start the night before?
Well if you have, it's great advice and applies to much more than morning routines.
I like to have a checklist next to me with:
• Everything I need to write (tweets, thread, NL, etc..)• An inspiration board• My content pillars
Then I'm ready to fire on all cylinders.
2. Single-Task like no Other.
Multi-tasking is simply something humans are not meant to do. The term was first popularized for computers, ya know because they can do a million things at once.
But we can't.
What we are good at is picking one singular tasking and completing it.
This also means not getting distracted by other tabs or checking your phone.
The tiny second you take to check your email is resetting your focus every time you try to come back to writing.
No wonder why we get burned out so fast.
3. Gamifying your Time
People who understand their minds are the ones who can leverage their time the most.
Parkinson's law states:
"Work expands to fill the time available for its completion."
Therefore, putting a constraint on your time will charge your creativity.
That's why I set a timer for 2 hours for my social media content and 1 hour for my newsletter.
It sounds a little counterintuitive at first, and it might be, but it works for me.
Also, hold yourself accountable. This won't work if you aren't going to be taking this seriously. It's up to you.
4. Entering the Flow State on Command
Have you ever tried to get a kid's attention who's staring at the TV so hard it looks like their brain will melt?
Yup, that's the flow state.
It happens when we are perplexed or intrigued by something.
When you are trying to figure out something complex, and you do, you get a hit of dopamine.
In turn, you are amplifying your pattern recognition and reinforcing the cycle.
How does this apply to writing content?
Sit down at your desk, and start writing. ANYTHING. You get locked into the state before you know it.
Easier said than done, for sure.
But that's where the next concept comes into play.
5. Upgrading your Information Diet
If you watch garbage, you're going to write garbage. There's no way around it, and it's an ugly truth. Thankfully it's never been easier to consume quality content.
Reading is the best, especially if you are a writer.
But, for those of us with an on-the-go lifestyle, there are so many great podcasts that provide value for free, hell you can even throw on an audiobook.
The point is:
It's hard to drink from an empty well. High-quality content fills that well.
You still don't know what to write about?
Have you ever tried using ChatGPT? No, it certainly will not replace your writing. But it is a gold mine for ideas.
Try asking for topics relating to your brand and then ask for subtopics.
To go one step further, tell the chatbot you want unconventional, novel, and counterintuitive topics & ideas.
After you do that, you now have 50+ ideas to write about that you never had to come up with.
Now that you have a glimpse into my exact content creation strategy, you don't have to copy & paste it (although you can).
Start with implementing certain strategies into your own workflow.
What works for me might not work for everyone.
PS: Whenever you're ready, here's another way I can help you.
If you like my Notion templates, I'm taking on 3 clients to make their own custom templates to use as a funnel for their audience. Creators & Entrepreneurs all need more leads. I know how to get them.
