TPS #16 – The Art of Lead Magnets
Read Time: 6 minutes.
Welcome Back, Solopreneurs.
Hunter, here.
The name of the solopreneur game: lead magnets. Every business always starts with lead gen. It's like a top-down funnel & leads are at the top.
If you can't get leads for your business, you have no clients.
No clients? No money.
I've started the practice of building them and perfected the art of launching them to my audience for a couple of months now.
In the process, I've gotten over 1,200+ individual people to sign up for my email list.
(all starting with 0 followers & subscribers)
But why are they so important? And how do you create them in the first place?
Let's dive in.
First things first, let's talk about what a lead magnet actually is.
It's basically an irresistible bribe that you offer to potential customers in exchange for their contact information.
It could be a free:•Ebook•Webinar•Checklist•Notion Template
Or Anything else that provides value to your audience.
The point is to attract leads and convert them into paying customers.
In fact, Most people in this newsletter got "The Entrepreneurs Starter Pack" for free when they signed up in the welcome email.
If it's not incredibly obvious why lead magnets are valuable yet, it will be. Let's break it down.
They help you build your email list.
Your email list is like a precious gem you need to nurture and care for. By offering a lead magnet, you can attract potential customers and collect their email addresses, allowing you to stay in touch with them and keep building that relationship over time.
They show that you know your stuff.
When you offer a lead magnet that provides value to your audience, you demonstrate your expertise and establish yourself as a trusted authority in your field. People like to do business with experts, so this is a great way to show off your skills.
They can boost your conversions.
By offering a lead magnet directly related to your product or service, you can increase the likelihood that potential customers will actually buy from you. It's like giving them a little taste of what you can offer and making them want more.
So by now, you're probably thinking: "Okay, that's awesome, but how do I actually build a lead magnet that converts?"
Luckily for you, it has never been easier, we talked about before you can create a PDF, E-book, or Notion template, but it all starts with knowing your audience.
You have to ask yourself:
• What are their pain points?• What problem are they trying to solve?
Your lead magnet is going to be the bridge between their pain points and your solution.
Once you know the answers to these questions, you can get on to the fun part: marketing.
But how and where?
Promote it on your website.
Make sure you have a dedicated landing page for your lead magnet and include a clear call-to-action on your homepage and other relevant pages.
Share it on social media.
Post about your lead magnet on your social channels and encourage your followers to download it. You could even create a fun little video or graphic to really make it stand out. If you have no audience, you can go to relevant subreddits, FB groups, discords, slack communities, the list goes on.
Use paid advertising.
If you're feeling really fancy, you could consider running ads on Facebook, Instagram, or Google to promote your lead magnet to a wider audience. (I'd only recommend this if you have the funds)
Remember:Don't just create a lead magnet for the sake of it, or else you're just doing busy work.
Make sure you are creating something of value and building trust with your audience.
One of the biggest challenges entrepreneurs face is actually finding the time to create a lead magnet for their audience.
It seems like just another item to check off on the to-do list.
But it's important to remember that you don't need to create a 2-hour webinar or a 50-page E-book.
Sometimes the shorter lead magnets are the most effective because they are the easiest to consume.
Regardless, Entrepreneurs & creators with successful agencies or businesses know that they need more leads, but are often too bogged down with business to create them.
This is where I can help.
If you like my Notion templates, I'm taking on only 2 more clients to make their custom templates to use as a funnel for their audience.
