TPS #26 –The Notion Creator (a mini course)

READ TIME: 4 minutes

Welcome Back, Solopreneurs.

After mindlessly scrolling Youtube for hours, I came across this video called “Building a Second Brain” by Thomas Frank last September.

My initial thoughts were: “ F**K Yeah, sign me up.” The idea of being able to digitize your brain was beyond fascinating to me.

I was starting the fall semester at school, and I needed a system to hold my life together.

That’s where I found Notion.

I thought Tom’s second brain was absolutely kick-ass (and it is), but I wanted to customize it and build my own systems.

So I dove headfirst into learning everything I could. I realized this could be a business only after I started my Twitter journey.

And if you’re anything like me, a systems fanatic, you can EASILY make money online.

So today, I created a “mini course” on becoming a Notion creator, and h

The Notion Creator: A Mini-Course on Building a Business with Notion and Social Media

Becoming a successful Notion creator is much easier than you think.

The reason why is that we are all so uniquely different.

You’ll go through these steps:

  1. Master the art of Notion

  2. Develop your unique systems

  3. Build your personal brand on social media

  4. Connect with your target audience

  5. Launch your products and services

But you being you, will make your positioning and the problems you solve specific to a type of audience.

And specificity is where the money is made.

Step 1: Master the Art of Notion

Youtube was my go-to to learn everything Notion related.

There are TONS of great content on building custom systems and mastering the fundamentals.

Thomas Frank made a fantastic beginner course that walks you through all the fundamentals and everything you need to know to start creating your custom systems and templates.

Step 2: Develop Your Unique Systems

The more you play around with Notion, the more use cases will appear in front of your face.

I’ve built systems for:

• Traveling
• Learning
• Content
• Client Relations

The list really does go on.

The point is:

Build things for yourself.

Over time, you’ll get better and more confident in your abilities.

Step 3: Build Your Personal Brand on Social Media

Turning your Notion skills into a business is where social media comes in.

Think about it like content marketing.

You get free impressions for sharing what you are doing.

Nothing will happen at first, but if you continue to build and personalize yourself, people who resonate with you will come.

Showcase your best work.

Give away your templates for free.

That’s exactly how I got started, and I can tell you from personal experience that it 100% works.

It just might not work the first time, and that’s okay too.

You’re playing a long game here.

Step 4: Connect with Your Target Audience

It’s called SOCIAL media. So do exactly that, be social.

Connect with other Notion creators or people that you just genuinely find interesting.

To me, “networking” is just making friends. So go get in people’s DM’s

If you do it the right way, (meaning: don’t ask for follows) people will resonate with you.

If you don’t know your target audience yet, this is the perfect chance to find it as well.

Talking with others that have an overlapping interest as you will unlock so many doors to ideas that you would have never thought about.

Step 5: Launch Your Products and Services

After you’ve networked with people and got a good sense of what exact problem and pain points you’re solving:

It’s time to make money.

You can do many monetization strategies, but the highest leverage among them is digital products. (at least in my opinion)

Essentially selling templates. That being either functional or informational, the choice is yours.

I’ve heard the Notion creator space is crowded, but that’s far from the truth.

Most are just not original.

I don’t want to see another “CRM or Daily planner” the point is to stand out and it is why you already created your own custom systems.

In combination of content marketing and digital products, you have set yourself up to start making money in your sleep.

As a Notioneer and power-user, I have gone down just about every method of creating and selling templates I’ve come across. (I’m still learning too)

But the biggest cash is made in service, not digital products.

The tricky part is finding which market is in desperate need of Notion services and is willing to pay you for it.

Digital products can make loads of money, but those alone at first won’t replace your full-time income. Again at least not in my experience.

In the spirit of becoming a Notion creator. I wanted to include all of the resources I have used to start building templates.

Icons, Widgets, Tutorials, etc.

Thomas Franks is fantastic for learning the basics, but once you start selling and customizing, you’ll want these tools.
