TPS #8 How to Build a Personal Empire in 2023
The second best time to start is now.
Read Time:
Welcome back, Solopreneurs.
Today, we are diving into how to build a personal empire in 2023.
With a personal empire (meaning the audience you build), your leverage is infinite.
It doesn't even matter what project you launch. You already have a group of people who love your work and what you do.
Most people give up before they see the fruits of their labor.
Mainly due to:
A lack of clarity
Limited resources
Fear of failure
Lack of confidence
The list goes on; people will find any reason not to do something, and the tricky part is finding the reason TO DO it.
I know it seems daunting at first, but I promise with hard work, dedication, and consistency, your dreams are closer to reach than you think.
We will keep today's letter simple and straight to the point.
Here is my 3-step plan you can copy and paste to build your own personal empire:
Step 1: Define your vision and goals.
Start by asking yourself:
"What are you passionate about, and what problem do you want to solve?" It's much easier to stay committed if you are doing something you love.
Next, think about your target audience.
Who are you trying to trach with your business, and how will your products or services help them?
Keep in mind your unique set of skills and abilities. (if you don't have any, LEARN SOME)
Set specific and measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals. (SMART) goals. This will help you stay focused and track your progress.
Most importantly: Dream big.
Be realistic, but don't let anyone tell you that you "can't" do it. Those people will never understand.
On a side note: write your goals down and hang them on your wall, somewhere you see every day.
Step 2: Create a plan.
Now that you have clarity on your vision, it's time to get a plan.
Start by listing everything you need to do that is immediate and actionable.
Prioritize tasks on your list and tackle the most important ones first. (This helps you to conserve your energy)
Set a deadline for completing said tasks and hold yourself to it. The only one standing in your way is you.
Procrastination is like a credit card: It's a lot of fun until you get the bill.
And remember, it's better to single-task than try to multi-task.
There is a difference between being "busy" and being productive.
Step 3: TAKE ACTION
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now." -Chinese Proverb.
Remember, the only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit excuses you keep telling yourself.
If you really want it. You have to work HARD. You have to work your ass off, and it's not going to be easy.
But it will be more rewarding than almost anything I can think of.
One way to stay motivated is to have a "to-don't list". It's like a to-do list except with all the stuff you aren't going to do.
Also, don't be afraid to ask questions and reach out when you are struggling. I know we call ourselves solopreneurs. But we are much stronger together.
The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. –Steve Jobs
