TPS #9 How to Start Selling on AutoPilot

The good news is in 2023; It's easier than ever to make money on autopilot. 

The idea here is to productize your business. This is how you make money even when you are sleeping. Today, we will detail exactly how to set this up and market it effectively so you can live life on your own terms. 

My goal is to quit my day job by the summer. Why? Because I want complete control of my time. I don't want bosses texting & calling me to pick up shifts or to freeze my ass off in -30 degree weather to pull up someone's car for a $2 tip. (I'm a valet)

I'm a 3rd-year college student studying finance, and I can summarize everything I have learned in one sentence:

Find a way to stop trading your time for money. 

Unfortunately, hustle culture says you should be grinding 80+ hours per week. And while that may be slightly true in the beginning... it's just not sustainable. 

That's where productizing and selling on auto-pilot comes in. 

This advice still applies to you if you are in a service-based industry. There are endless options for making money in your sleep if you are creative enough.  

Step 1: Build an audience

I have talked about owning the distribution before, but it is THE most important thing you can do, and it is why personal brands are so powerful. 

You can build an audience on any channel you like. I prefer Twitter because the community is supportive and teaches you how to write online. 

BUT, you can start anywhere you like: TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, you get the idea. 

Just be sure to master one platform first and then move on, don't try to spread yourself thin. 

No, I know it isn't easy, but neither is waking up every day working for someone else's dream. 

Step 2: Create a lead magnet. 

Now that you are starting to build your audience, you need to give away free value to help build trust and rapport with your audience. 

Even if you already have a grand slam offer, you need a way to convert your audience to paying customers. 

That is where the power of lead magnets comes in. It is normally a free/cheap product that solves a problem in your niche. 

This can be in the form of a:

• Free E-book

• Notion Tempalte

• Course

• Checklist

The list goes on, but you get the picture. 

If you don't have a big audience yet, you can go to FB groups, subreddits, discords, and basically anywhere where there is already a demand for the problem you are solving. 

There are many free communities in any niche; start looking. 

Step 3: Set up an automated workflow

Now I personally use Gumroad to sell my products. ( I know that many people are moving away from the platform) But for ease of use, I am still with them. 

The formula is simple:

1. Give away your lead magnet

2. Set an automated sales email

3. Follow up pitching a premium product or your offer.

Gumroad makes this easy with its workflows that automatically send customers emails based on which products they use. 

But there are many alternatives, such as Convert Kit, Lemon Squeezy, Whop Commerce, etc. 

Pick whatever works best for you. 

With this simple setup, you can start making money even when sleeping. That is at least for selling products. 

Admittedly, in the begging, it seems that service-based businesses start cash flowing more easily because it's an active investment.

But productization is the ultimate goal for any business because you are no longer a boss to your clients. 

One of the BIGGEST marketing tips I can give you is to create urgency and use testimonials from your service or past customers to build trust.

You want to motivate the reader to make a purchase because it may not be around forever, at least not at this price. 

All in all, the process of setting up this system and making money in your sleep will take anywhere from 6 months -> 1 year, depending on the amount of action you take.

I wanted to share this formula with you because it is the exact method I will use to quit my job.
